About Dr. Alan

For over two decades I have studied one thing: back pain, and how to stop it.

I did not set out to build a telehealth practice. I set out to answer a question that kept appearing in my clinic, in my research, and in my own life — why do so many people live with back pain that nobody can properly explain?

As a chiropractor I have worked with thousands of patients. As a PhD epidemiologist I have spent years studying the evidence on what actually works. As a professor at Capilano University I have taught the next generation of practitioners. The thread running through all of it is the same: most back pain is not a mystery. It is a problem that can be identified, understood, and solved — once you know which kind you are dealing with.

Why telehealth

Good assessment is mostly listening, looking, and asking the right questions. Almost all of that translates perfectly to a secure video call — and it means you can get expert care from wherever you are, without a waiting room, a commute, or a six-week wait for an appointment.

Every session ends with a clear, plain-English explanation of what is happening and a specific plan you can act on — not vague advice to “rest” or “take some ibuprofen”.
